Object: Japanese military-style swagger stick incorporating a concealed blade.

Construction: The earlier Yamazakura catalogue records a hinoki-wood body covered in leather in the manner of shin-gunto military fittings. The concealed blade bears a stamped or impressed marking.

The form is unusual and has previously been catalogued as an officer’s swagger stick. That identification is retained as the earlier Yamazakura attribution; no individual officer, unit or service provenance is asserted without supporting documentation.

The blade marking may merit further specialist examination and could provide additional information.
