Japanese yatate portable writing set, combining an ink reservoir with a tubular holder for the writing brush.

This example is decorated with a crescent-moon motif, a small cherry-blossom petal and bamboo. The crescent appears in a silver-coloured metal or finish; its precise composition has not been tested.

An appealing piece of traditional Japanese writing equipment. No maker or date is asserted here; please refer to the photographs for surface condition and details.
