Mumei Jumonji-yari with Bō-hi and Lacquered Saya

£1,650.00

Object: Japanese jumonji-yari (cross-shaped spear), mumei (unsigned), with associated saya and display base.

Blade: The spearhead has bō-hi cut into the faces of the blades. The existing Yamazakura record describes the blade as being in good polish, with some small areas of surface pitting/rust marking. No smith, school or firm period attribution is asserted.

Mounting and display: Accompanied by a fitted jumonji-form saya with an eggshell-like lacquered surface, together with the existing oak display base.

An appealing example of Japanese polearm workmanship, with the multiple grooves providing particular visual interest.
