Jumonji-form Japanese Yari Saya with Display Stand

£200.00

Object: Japanese yari saya (spear cover) formed to accommodate a jumonji or cross-shaped spearhead.

Date: Previously catalogued by Yamazakura as Edo period; the dating is retained as the earlier catalogue attribution and has not been independently verified in this revision.

The pronounced cross-shaped form immediately identifies the type of spearhead for which the cover was intended and makes this a strong sculptural display object within a collection of Japanese arms and armour.

Presentation: Stand included, as recorded in the original listing.

Condition: Please study the photographs carefully; they form an integral part of the description.
