Object: Japanese naval dirk containing a blade recorded in the earlier Yamazakura catalogue as traditionally forged, accompanied by an oshigata.

The dirk is mounted with an unusual brown saya. The earlier catalogue noted that brown finishes are more commonly associated with land-service equipment, including Army use, and raised a possible comparison with Naval Special Landing Forces equipment. That observation is retained as a point for study rather than as evidence of service provenance.

The traditionally forged blade and accompanying oshigata make this a particularly interesting example for a specialist collection of Japanese military swords and dirks.
