Object: Unusual Japanese military flag dirk retaining its associated original flag.

The earlier Yamazakura catalogue described this configuration as very rarely encountered and noted a related flag-sword form illustrated on the cover of a Jim Dawson reference work. That comparison is retained as catalogue history rather than used to claim a precise rarity ranking for this individual piece.

The survival of the flag together with the dirk is the principal feature of the ensemble and makes it a particularly distinctive military collecting object.
