Object: Japanese naval shore-patrol / prison-service pattern sword fitted with a traditionally forged Japanese blade.

Blade attribution: The earlier Yamazakura catalogue records the blade as signed Musashi-jū Ishidō Masatoshi and attributes it to the Kanbun era (1661–1673). This important attribution is retained as prior catalogue information pending specialist verification of the signature and blade.

The combination of an older traditionally forged blade with later naval service mounts gives this sword interest both as nihontō and as Japanese military material.

No attempt is made here to strengthen the earlier dating or attribution without direct examination and authentication.
